The
ARF Plan
An Advertising Opportunity for ARF
Certified Breeders
ARF PLAN application ARF Kennel Registration application ARF Certified Breeder application
(please
note: all 3 of the above applications must be completed)
Dear
ARF Breeder,
If
you have access to the internet, I trust that you have had an opportunity to
visit us on the “World Wide Web” [see ARF’s Web Site domain names listed
above], and see all the things we are doing.
However, our main goal is to help you, our ARF breeder, to promote your
breed, your kennel, and to become a successful ARF CERTIFIED BREEDER.
ARF
learned decades ago, that to be successful in the animal business, the serious
breeder must advertise all year round, whether he has animals or not.
Therefore, while advertising, the
breeder knows what animals he plans to breed, he knows when the mating will take
place, and he knows when his animals will produce their offspring [He is never
expecting animals the same week he is going on vacation.], and, as a rule, he
has his animals sold before they even hit the ground.
Now
that we have shared some of our basic experience with you, here is what we would
like to offer you – to help you, your kennel, and economize your advertising
dollars.
For
a one-time fee of $250.00, our ARF staff will create a custom web site of
up to six pages [additional pages are $25.00 each] that will describe your
kennel, contact information, your breed, provide your kennel logo, pictures of
your dogs/pups, etc., purchase information [optional], etc.
Also, you will become part of our supporting Certified Breeder Membership
Program [a $100.00 value, by itself, with $20.00 yearly dues], receiving an ARF
Certified Breeder Certificate and Certified Breeder package, and you will
receive an ARF Kennel Registration Certificate [a $45.00 value, by itself, good
for three years]. After all is in place, your ARF advertising cost will be only $15.00
per month, or $150.00 for the entire year.
[We are very aware of a major U.S. dog journal that charges this much
[$150.00], if not more, for just one month photo ad.]
Once
we have set up your program, you can have your business cards printed, using the
domain name of the ARF web site, in connection with your kennel name.
Therefore, when anyone visits our ARF web site, they can locate you from
our main page, or they can go directly to your web pages by adding your kennel
name to our domain name.
Is
this a deal or a dud? The following
is what we have learned from establishing our own site.
First, you must own a “good” computer, capable of handling some
sophisticated and expensive program software.
Along with your new computer, you will need a scanner/digital camera so
that you can enter photos into your computer, then, to your web site [Your
computer, accessories, and software can cost you up to $3000.00, more or less.].
Second, you must find a reliable domain name provider; after that, create
and register your own domain name at the initial cost of $50.00, more or less
[with a renewal fee each year]. Once your web account is set up, you will pay
your domain host a monthly fee, $25.00, more or less, for as long as you keep
your web site. Third, you must have
the skill to operate your computer, so that you can manage your web site, or you
will need to pay someone to educate you or set up your web site for you
[Generally, that can cost you $10.00 per hour, more or less.].
The average cost to have someone set up the most basic web site is
$150.00 to $200.00. In the event
you have a complex web site, the more time spent, the higher your cost.
Total the above financial costs, and you will find that we DO have a deal
for you!
In
the event you get your new web site up and running, the next hurdle is to get
people to find you. Sure, you can
post your name on some cyber space message board; however, most of the people
who visit there, more likely than not, are your competition.
NOTICE
With
ARF, your fellow ARF Certified Breeders are not your competition; these are
other respected breeders that you can net-work with.
For example: Work together, to improve breeding stock. Work together, to
fill orders (here and abroad). Work together, to pass the overflow of
prospective buyers on to those who have unfilled orders.
Work together, to set a fair market price, animal guarantees, settle
disputes and complaints. Therefore, only those who are willing to follow “POSTED”
ARF Policy and Registration Procedure, and “POSTED” ARF Certified Breeder
guidelines need apply.
ARF
will reserve the right, without notice, to remove anyone from its web site who
knowingly, intentionally and voluntarily violates ARF Policy and Registration
Procedure, and ARF Certified
Breeder guidelines. All that will
be required, to be permanently removed from ARF’s web site, is for two ARF
Certified Breeders, affirming by notarized affidavit, the violation of ARF
Policy and Registration Procedure, and the set ARF Certified Breeder guidelines.
Also, ARF reserves the right to remove anyone from its web site for
non-payment, after a 30-day grace period.]
CONCLUSION
For
people to locate you on the “World Wide Web”, you must have name
recognition. This is what places
ARF head and shoulders above all the rest – we have 56 years of name
recognition. On top of all this,
you will appreciate having a listing for a registered ARF kennel, and having the
status of being listed as an ARF Certified Breeder.
As you consider all three ARF features: ARF Certified Breeder, ARF
Registered Kennel, and having a maintained, year-around web site, at a low cost
of $15.00 a month, you should become a very successful breeder. Furthermore, the ARF is here to assist you in your breeding
plans, screening prospective clients, record keeping, etc.
Also, as an ARF Certified Breeder, you will receive preferential
treatment, for you and your customers. Therefore,
people will not have to wonder if it is going to be six months, or more, to
receive their paperwork. Also, your
customers will have the assurance that, when they call, a friendly ARF staff
member will help them with all their ARF needs.
Therefore,
your customer will realize that he has not bought just another “registered”
animal, but has gained a lifetime relationship with you, and the ARF.
That relationship will help him or her to know his or her breed better
through education – breeding, whelping, feeding, maintenance, training, etc.
– and when the day comes for their animal to draw its last breath of air, you
and they will know that the animal was in good hands.
And, when the grieving time comes to an end, he or she will come back,
looking for another animal. Our
experience says it will be you.
If
you believe THE ARF PLAN is
something that will help you, give us a call, or write us; just say, “Let’s
roll!” From there, we will tell
you what to do next.
Sincerely,
Al
Walker, ARF Genealogist & Registrar
