Question:
I/we have an “ARF CERTIFIED PEDIGREE” form that was given to me/us,
by the breeder so that I/we could register my/our dog; however, on the back side
of that ARF Certified Pedigree form, it says something about a LIMITED
REGISTRATION CONTRACT. The
form is blank, so do I/we need to fill out this portion of the form before I/we
mail it back to the ARF?
Answer:
_NO!_ The
“Breeder” is the only one who can enter the “conditions” on the LIMITED
REGISTRATION CONTRACT. If
the “Breeder” does this, he/she has placed a restriction on the dog he/she
sold to the “Buyer”; therefore, if the “Buyer” agrees to the
“conditions” that the “Breeder” has placed on the “Limited
Registration Contract”, then, both the “Breeder” and the “Buyer” must
sign the “Contract” before a “Notary Public”.
When the “Breeder” and “Buyer” enter into a contractual agreement, this also is noted on the front of the dog’s “ARF CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION” [See “Limited Registration”]. However, when the “Buyer” has fulfilled the “Breeder’s” conditions, the “Breeder” agrees to release the “Buyer” from the LIMITED REGISTRATION CONTRACT, by signing off, before a “Notary” [Notary Public], on the back side of the “ARF CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION”. [Note: On the back side of the “ARF CERTIFIED PEDIGREE”, in an enclosed box, it reads: “LIMITED REGISTRATION CONTRACT; As shown on the back of the ARF Certificate of Registration”; and, in large diagonal shaded print, it reads; “SAMPLE”.] Afterwards, the “Buyer” needs to return his/her original “ARF CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION”, back to the ARF office, with a $25.00 fee, and a note indicating that the LIMITED REGISTRATION CONTRACT “condition” has been fulfilled. Once the ARF receives that notice, a new “ARF CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION” will be issued to the “Buyer”, eliminating the restriction [“condition”] that once was placed on his/her dog, by the “Breeder”.
