Question:
What does, “Please attach copy of D.V.M.’s verification certificate(s)
to this document.” mean?
Answer: The above quotation is found on
an “ARF CERTIFIED PEDIGREE”, the pup’s registration paper that was
obtained from the pup’s breeder. Further,
the above quotation is listed under the heading of “THIS INFORMATION IS
OPTIONAL, AND IS TO BE SUPPLIED BY THE NEW OWNER.”
Therefore, “D.V.M.” is the title of your veterinarian, meaning, “D”octor of “V”eterinarian “M”edicine. The items listed in this section of your “ARF CERTIFIED PEDIGREE” are “OPTIONAL”; however, if you would like the ARF to record any of those items on your pup’s “ARF CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION”, we will need a copy of your DVM’s verification, proving that your veterinarian performed any one of these procedures on your dog. Again, these items are optional; you DO NOT have to do any of these items to register your dog. But, if you plan to breed your dog in the future, we highly recommend that you do them, but, again, it is not mandatory. Yet, if you don’t, this could lead to future puppy health risks, a responsibility you must be willing to assume. So, check these matters over with your veterinarian [DVM], and listen to what he may have to say to you.
