CREATION vs. EVOLUTION

THE ANIMAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION’S VIEW OF ALL LIFE

When I was attending a biology class, way back in 1959, the biology teacher informed the class that the earth was millions and millions of years old, and that man was a descendant of the monkey. By that time, I had to raise my hand. When the teacher called on me to speak, I told him that, as a Christian, and I never knew of any of my relatives swinging by the tail; however, there probably were a few that swung by the neck. The class laughed! Further, there was a chart, published by "National Geographics", that illustrated man’s evolvement from a monkey to modern man; after reading the Genesis account of man’s creation, I asked a question, "Which one of these do we call Adam?" I received no response.

The situation students face today in school is that they are taught that God does not exist, and that evolution is "factual". However, most people who send their children to public school are not aware that their children are being taught the strong tenets of communism, and that the public school has deliberately undermined America’s Christian values, e.g.: No Bible! No prayer! To reinforce this type of thinking at home, just view the "Nature" programming seen on "PBS" television. The "so-called" scientists on these programs speak of animals and the earth evolving over eons of time. Therefore, we must ask the question, "Is the creation story, as written in Genesis, Chapter 1, the truth, dating our planet back to six thousand years, or is evolution true science?"

Let’s take a look at today’s "evolutionary" belief, and review the opinions of men. In 1862, Thompson taught that the earth was 20 million years old. In 1897, he doubled it to 40 million. Two years later, J. Joly said it was 90 million. Rayleigh, in 1921, upped it to 1 billion. Eleven years later, W. O. Hotchkiss moved the figure up to 1.6 billion. In 1947, A. Holmes decided it was 3.35 billion, and, in 1956, raised it to 4.5 billion. Just now, it stands at 5 billion. But what do the facts tell us?

Charles Darwin, the author of the book, "The Origin of Species", misunderstood the meaning of "kind" [See Genesis 1:24, etc.] as related to "species". During the 300 years before Darwin, the popular belief was that the Bible taught the total fixity of species, which means that all successive generations of all animals were all alike, as coins minted from the same mold. Theologians of that period actually thought the Bible taught this, but they were wrong.

When Darwin took his voyage on the "Beagle" to the Galapagos Islands, his keen eye saw the fact of "inheritable variation". But then Darwin’s imagination went completely overboard, and he began to believe that variation could proceed endlessly.

His book, "The Origin of Species", was published in 1859, and it was well received by people who disliked the Bible. However, before his book was published, Darwin wrote a letter to a colleague regarding the concluding chapters [as quoted in "John Lofton’s Journal", "The Washington Times", February 8, 1984.]. Here is what Darwin wrote his friend:

"You will be greatly disappointed (by the forthcoming book); it will be grievously too hypothetical. It will very likely be of no other service than collocating some facts; though I myself think I see my way approximately on the origin of the species. But, alas, how frequent, how almost universal it is in an author to persuade himself of the truth of his own dogmas."

Imagine, over the years, in an attempt to remain contrary to Scripture’s "creationism", there have been thirty different variations of "evolution". The Bible tells us that all living creatures were created in distinct "kinds" [not species], and God clearly permitted "inheritable variation" to take place among "kinds" of animals. Therefore, the cat family spreads out to include Lions, Tigers, Pumas, Jaguars, Ocelots, Leopards, Wildcats and house Cats. The dog family became German Shepherds, Collies, Wolves, Coyotes, Dingos, Jackals, etc. But, only one pair of each of these "kinds" of animals needed to be on Noah’s Ark to provide the "genes" for ALL these "cats" and "dogs".

Darwin’s error was thinking that one "kind" of animal could come from another "kind" of life. Darwin’s error was the result of an improper under- standing of what the Bible actually taught, based on a popular misconception at that time in history – the total fixity of species. 

Did you know that all animal, insect, and plant life contain "CHROMOSOMES"? Did you know that evolution textbooks refuse to teach the number of chromosomes as proof for evolution? Evolution insistently teaches that simple life evolves into a more complex life. As you count the chromosomes in the following chart, how can a "Fern" have 434 more chromosomes than a "Human being"?

This chart alone totally disproves evolution. Dr. Kent Hovind says that he has only found one college-level textbook that even commented on this very "embarrassing fact": "The number of chromosomes do not seem to follow the evolutionary pattern. Let’s make sure that we understand exactly what evolution is all about. It says that God doesn’t exist, the Bible is a lie, and all forms of life evolved from the basic microscopic chemicals of life over a time period of millions of years.

What are the facts?

FACT: Various protein molecules can have 50, 100, 200, 300, or even 400 linked amino acids. Each amino acid is made up of a special arrangement of 4 or 5 chemical elements, and each chemical element is made up of a unique combination of neutrons, protons and electrons. What are the odds of this happening? The mathematical odds are something like 1 in 10 to the 450^th power!

FACT: The probability for forming DNA proteins is gigantic: 1 in 10 to the 166,625^th power!

FACT: Mathematics proves that the probability of evolution by mutation and natural selection is impossible!!! That would be like a tornado sucking up a scrap metal junkyard and assembling a Stealth Bomber in its wake.

Consider that the human brain contains over 10,000,000,000 cells, each arranged to function instantly! How many billions of cells are located in the digestive system? How many billions of cells are running throughout a person’s nervous system, and how many cells form the bones and muscles in our legs and arms and neck and face and torso and our feet and our hands – and evolutionists would have us believe that all this happened by chance? [The Bible says, "I am fearfully wonderfully made." Psalms 139:14. K.J.V.] There are approximately 60 trillion cells in an adult human body! The mathematical odds of this happening by chance are 1 in 10 to the 2,000,000,000^th power! [This is a figure with two billion zeros after it!]

Friend, from looking at the above statistics, it takes more faith to believe in the absurdity of evolution than to believe in God!

Let us pause for a moment, as we sit in a first grade lesson study. The teacher is going to explain that God does not exist, and all her pupils are paying close attention, especially one little precocious girl who believes the Bible.

Teacher: Johnny, do you see the tree outside?
Johnny: Yes.
Teacher: Johnny, do you see the grass outside?
Johnny: Yes.
Teacher: Johnny, go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
Johnny: Okay. [He returns a few minutes later.] Yes, I saw the sky.
Teacher: Did you see God?
Johnny: No.
Teacher: That is my point, class. We can’t see God because He isn’t there.God does not exist.
Little Mary spoke up and asked if she could ask Johnny some questions. The teacher agreed, and Mary said to Johnny:
Mary: Johnny, do you see the tree outside?
Johnny: Yes.
Mary: Johnny, do you see the grass outside?
Johnny: Yes.
Mary: Johnny, did you see the sky?
Johnny: Yes.
Mary: Johnny, do you see the teacher?
Johnny: Yes.
Mary: Johnny, do you see her brain?
Johnny: No.
Mary: Then from what we were taught today in school, the teacher must not have one, since you cannot see it.The Bible says, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God." The Bible also says, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." See Psalms 14: 1 and 2 Corinthians 5:7.

We feel that it is unfortunate that many of today’s scientists believe that there is "convincing evidence" which proves that "evolution" is true, whereas the real facts prove otherwise! "Life" is far too complicated to have happened "just by chance", nor could it have "self-propelled" itself over millions of years into the animals and living organisms that we see all around us. The truth is that a Master Designer, Jesus Christ, is the Creator of everything. Jesus Christ created our World, our Universe, and all the life within it.
