ARF POLICY & REGISTRATION PROCEDURE ©

AMERICA’S OLDEST ALL-BREED REGISTRY; WE REGISTER ALL STANDARD BREEDS & NEW BREEDS. RARE BREED SURVIVAL.
 ESTABLISHED 1947

You DO NOT need to be an "ARF Certified Breeder" to register an established breed with the Foundation. Please note the following:

a.) To become an "ARF Certified Breeder", you must be able to meet the conditions as set forth on an "ARF Application for Certified Breeder Membership".

b.) To ARF-register a "RARE" or "NEW BREED" with the Foundation, it is mandatory that you become an "ARF Certified Breeder".

"ARF Applications for Litter Pedigrees" can be obtained at the breeder’s request.

NOTE: Before the Foundation will issue any "ARF Certified Pedigree" ("Puppy Paper"), both the "Sire" and the "Dam" must be ARF-registered by completing the following (as applicable):

c.) Complete an "ARF Certified Pedigree".

d.) Complete an "ARF Application for Certificate of Registration". (This application is provided for those who have lost their original "ARF Certified Pedigree", or the breeder did not ever apply for his/her "ARF Certified Pedigrees", by completing an "ARF Application for Litter Pedigrees".)

e.) Complete an "ARF Application for Double-Registration". (Note: If you have, or locate, an animal that is registered through another entity, i.e., ABA, NKC, ABCA, AKC, NALC, NSDR, UKC, WWKC, etc., which is approved by the ARF, the Foundation will issue you an "ARF Certificate of Registration" for that animal.

f.) Complete an "ARF Application for Merit Pedigree". (Note: There are many "rare" and "pure-bred" animals, coming from original stock, that are worthy of registration recognition. Once these animals have been inspected by the Foundation or a state-licensed veterinarian, and have been approved, they will be issued an "ARF Certificate of Registration", thereby providing their offspring with an ancestral pedigree.

NOTICE: The owner of the female, at the time of birth/whelping, will be listed as the breeder. On the "ARF Application for Litter Pedigrees", the owner of the "Stud" must sign the application and provide the date of mating. Further, the Foundation requires that a "Photo" of the "Sire" and "Dam" be on file, and that a pedigree (ancestral history) be on file for each of their breeding stock. (Photo: A standing side-view, with animal facing the camera. A clear Polaroid picture is fine. Please, no computer generated photos. )

"Application for Certificate of Registration" Fee: $ 50.00

NOTE: Profane names are not acceptable, and will not be allowed. Dogs understand short names; however, it is not wise to use the name "Joe", for the dog can misunderstand its name for the command "GO"! (Consider the dog’s name in regards to commands used for training and working a dog.)

Deceased animals: Write "DECEASED" across "ARF Certificates of Registration" and "ARF Certified Pedigrees", and return them to the Foundation for recordation.

NOTICE ONE

ARF fees are not refundable.

All ARF fees are to be paid to the "ARF" or the "Animal Research Foundation", with a U.S. Postal Money Order (from the Post Office), with the exception of our overseas customers. All overseas fees are to be paid in USDs, AUDs, EUROS, or with a "Western Union International Money Order" or "American Express Traveler’s Cheque", or with a "Cashier’s Check", written on a New York Bank. NO PERSONAL CHECKS or CREDIT CARDS accepted.

Please make copies of all ARF documents and money orders, prior to mailing to the Foundation. (This is your insurance policy against the loss of your letter, mailed to the ARF.)

All ARF applications must have the owner’s original signature.

ARF reserves the right to correct, void, cancel, and remove any ARF document(s) from its data base.

ARF reserves the right to refuse anyone the right to register his/her animal(s) with the ARF.

ARF reserves the right to change its fees without notice. (All current fees will be posted on our ARF web site, or call us for current fees.

ARF is not responsible for any mistakes other than our own. Therefore, double-check all your paperwork prior to sending it to the Foundation. (Your ARF documents are prepared with the information that you provide us.)

NOTICE TWO

For those ARF patrons who live in other parts of the world, such as the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, etc., please check your local time zone schedule, for ARF office-hour compatibility. Your calls are important to us; however, if you are calling in regards to see if we have received your letter, containing information on the registration of a litter, the registration of an animal, etc., we may or may not have that information available for you. All ARF mail is received from the U.S. Postal Service, Federal Express, United Parcel Service, etc.; therefore, depending how, and from where, you sent your letter, this will have a direct bearing upon how and when we receive your letter. As a rule, if you send your letter to us by Express Mail, FedEx, UPS, etc., you will have a "Tracking Number" to check and see if we have received your letter or not. Once we have signed for your letter, your work will be processed in 2 to 5 business days. If you have not furnished a "prepaid" envelope, back to you, your ARF documents will be sent back to you by regular 1st Class Mail. If that should be the case, normal mail delivery time takes 3 to 4 days; however, the U.S. Postal Service has been known to take longer in their mail delivery. Therefore, if "time" is of the essence, we suggest you use means other than "Snail Mail", in regards to getting your ARF documents back to you sooner. Again, as much as we would like to visit with you over the phone, the receiving and delivery of your mail is out of our hands; the most any of our ARF staff members can do, is to let you know when your letter was received, when it was processed, and when it was mailed back to your home/office/kennel address.

If you feel that you need "Priority or Express Mail" service, or any other type of delivery service, we ask that you add the appropriate mailing fee to your ARF fee(s).

As for the Postal Service NOT delivering your letter, you will need to do one of three things …

Be patient, and wait until the Postal Service does deliver your letter.

Request that we file a form for lost and/or rifled mail, and learn from the Post Office why your letter was not delivered. [Once we obtain that information, we will pass it on to you; however, the ARF cannot and will not be held responsible for lost and/or rifled mail. If this should be the case, the ARF patron will need to take the matter up with the U.S. Postal Service.]

Should you choose to avoid steps 1 & 2, you can repay the original ARF fee(s), and have an ARF staff member duplicate your work over again. However, the mailing of your 2nd ARF documents will be based upon how you wish to receive them, and the additional cost, beyond 1st Class Postage, in its return back to you. [Generally, an ARF staff member can tell you what it will cost to ship by "Priority Mail, with Delivery Confirmation", "Express Mail", "FedEx", "UPS", etc. Those fees will need to be added to your standard ARF fees.]

Usually, the U.S. Postal Service does a very good job, but U.S. Postal Service mishaps are not all that uncommon – that is the risk you and the ARF must take. However, if we are at fault, you can be assured that we will handle your work expeditiously, and, without any further cost to you.

To speak with an ARF staff member, you must call between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM, Monday thru Friday, Texas Central Time; or, if the line is busy, you can send us an e-mail. However, when sending an e-mail, please provide us with your phone number so that we can call you back. [In conducting business around the world, our staff is very busy; therefore, please be patient and we will contact you as soon as it is possible.]

Also, as a reminder, you can print any ARF application that you need, from our ARF web site – www.arfusa.com . Look in the Table of Contents for: "ARF Application Forms"; if you have any questions, or need further assistance, do not hesitate to contact us at the Foundation.
